The Horl 3 Cruise sharpener is similar to the Horl 2 and Horl 3 sharpeners however as the honing disc is made from stainless steel rather than ceramic we do not recommend they are used on Kin Knives.
The HORL 3 Cruise is not only easy to use; it requires no soaking and gets the perfect angle every time. This model does not have interchangeable discs, they are permanently fitted and cannot be swapped for high or lower grit stones.
You can sharpen to 15 or 20 degree angles. The 15 degree side for Japanese knives with a rockwell hardness up to 60 and the 20 degree side for western knives. Each sharpener comes with a diamond grinding disc and a stainless steel honing disc
The HORL 3 Cruise comprises of two parts: a magnetic angle support bar and the roller which houses the discs. To use, the knife is placed upside down against the support bar and held in place by strong magnets, the disc roller is then rolled up and down the length of the blade. For smaller knives you will place the knife higher on the support bar so the sharp edge of the knife will always be touched by the roller.
Care – keep both the sharpener and the angle support dry. You can clean the diamond grinding disc with an eraser to remove dust or for larger deposits, soak the surfaces in a hot water bath with dishwashing liquid and remove with a brush. The diamond steel disc will become less coarse after approximately 20 uses; this is intentional, and works as intended in subsequent uses
